I have to apologise for my absence of late. I am so lucky I got a full-time job! However, with work, caring, family, uni, and tafe I'm very time poor. If anyone is interested in becoming an admin, who has the time to post and monitor comments, just pm the page! There are plans for future activities, so we do need to keep the page happening! Cheers, Miriam ... See MoreSee Less

March Australia - Fraser CoastWe need to grow it and make it bigger for this to happen, and keep a good rep with the Police. The commercial media are finding it very hard to pick on us because we didn't burn cars, didn't bash minorities and we didn't fight police. The right wing media are desperate, and we know who are our real oppressors. The politicians know they cant deal with things like in the 60's and 70's. They know the police are becoming more and more involved in the community and are trying their best to keep to their oath and be apolitical. They are only strong through media persuasion and the misuse of patriotic sentiments of the people. Lets at least take the latter from them because they are using it to hurt the very people that Abbott and co are pretending to protect. Lets push for decency, transparency and accountability.8   ·  4 weeks ago

March Australia - Fraser CoastWe need to get more LNP supporters involved, persuade them that this is not what the LNP are about. Show them what Malcolm Fraser did and how unpatriotic Abbott is acting.1   ·  4 weeks ago

Irene WilkWe must! This March was so down played by Rabbott and his media buddies...we need to do it again to show we mean it! And maybe organise some main stream coverage of the next one, surely there are journalists out there who hate what is happening in the media. Is their job more important than their self respect? I remember when journo's were rebels and heroes! Not so now, they are bought and owned!1   ·  4 weeks ago

March Australia - Fraser CoastThis is true patriotism people-Andy4 weeks ago

Peter LemmoIf It is true patriotism you would stand behind the government that was elected by the people. Then you can have your say at the next election just like we did when Labor was in, you didn't hear us kicking and screaming when Labor just about crippled this country. They had 14 years to fix things and they did nothing apart from putting the country in megger debt.1   ·  4 weeks ago

Annie TurnerBut labor didnt take away our rights, freedom and choice. You will loose everything you have gained Peter Lemmo, through your neglect to see what the LNP is doing, They are attacking the air we breathe, selling out to corporations, killing our farmland, you are the type that should be ashamed to call yourself an Australian, I am Australian and I'm proud of all who Marched, you just sit in your little house with your little boat and dont worry about what the LNP is doing to Aussie, when Abbott bows to the TPP, and we loose even more rights than we have already lost already, when the LNP sells Australia to foreign corporations and governments, when anybody who disagrees with governments of Aussie get jailed, you just sit there and condemn anyone who tried to make you see...3   ·  4 weeks ago

Peter LemmoDid you know that the Qld government has to pay $460,000 per day in interest because of the debt Labor put the state in.I agree that some of the things Newman is doing is wrong and in one way you are right and he should be castigated for it, but you are taking it out on the whole LMP Federal and state. Apart from the Bikie laws Newman has to do something to try and save money to repay the debet and remember it was our money they squanderd4 weeks ago

March Australia - Fraser CoastPeter I understand you. I am an LNP supporter myself. But there are moderate, fiscally responsible and centrist LNP members in both governments and they have been gagged. This is no pro labor demonstration. There was some harsh criticism going towards labor as well. Holding politicians to account is part of democracy. It is a tradition of Australia to cut down the overrighteous tall poppy and bring em back to our level. The current federal and state LNP government are throwing the ANZAC spirit of Audtralia outnthe window to americanise our culture (care for yourself and money, not others).4 weeks ago

In response to the CRAP we've had to put up with from our mainstream media in relation to the Marches in March, I've started a brand new group where we can explore the deficiencies. The URL is here www.facebook.com/groups/MediaBotch Please feel free to join the group or add people to it. Why does our Australian media let us down? Why are some events considered newsworthy but others don't rate a mention? How much power can one mogul actually wield? With tight deadlines, and less staff, errors abound - are they reasonable or reckless? Most importantly what can be done to combat the problem? The intention of the group is to discuss these issues frankly and honestly. This is an open group, so all FB users will be able to see the posts. It's a group rather than a page as the goal is discussion. Photos and videos will need to be posted as examples, but general memes are frowned upon unless there is some analysis of the issues. The group was setup as a response to the NoMSM coverage of the Marches in March 2014, where about 100,000 people participated in marches against the Federal Government, yet were struggling to get any air-time or column inches. I'm sure that we'll come across numerous other examples of the media putting its own slant on subjects, and you might even be able to take a few lessons into your own work as a result.
